I think I have a problem...

and it's: CAH-OOOOOOKIE CRISPS!



It all started when I was pregnant. For the most part all I wanted was healthy stuff like apples and snowcones, (hey they're fruity), but the urge for Cookie Crisps grabbed on and wouldn't let go.

I hadn't had them for over a year now, but Alberertson's decided to have a great cereal sale and I caved in a moment of weekness. Well...now I'm wishing that I bought 10 more boxes! Last night I had TWO bowls before bed. What is wrong with me?! Now, you are probably thinking, "What's the big deal?" I say the big deal is that I was planning my late night snack in my head WHILE I was cooking dinner!

I think that I have a problem.

I think I might need professional help.

I think I better go get a bowl of Cookie Crisps for my mid-afternoon snack.


Do others out there have crazy food addictions, too? Or am I alone in my craziness?

Wild and Crazy New Year's

We had a great time with our "game night" crew on New Year's Eve. Thanks to the Thompsons for having us over and to the Gibsons and Endsleys for many laughs. Too many, I think! We played Balderdash, ate lots of food, had balance contests on an exercise ball, drank soem sparkling something, and then played Apples to Apples. It was a very full night of good friends and fun. We feel so blessed to have such great friends in our lives.

Impressed

I'm just wondering if anyone is as impressed as I am with Greg for buying me this coat for my birthday? He picked it out by himself and I LOVE it! I'm so proud of his fashion sense, or maybe I'm proud of his listening skills. I've been talking about this style for a while now. Either way, well done!

 

Huck Finn anyone?

One of my favorite books of all time is "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." I love Mark Twain's wit, style and sarcasm. He's right up my literary alley. I'm going to start teaching this book to the 11th graders in my American Lit class next week. It's a book that I really love and I'm concerned about being able to teach it well.

I don't want to be the person that gives one of my students a bad taste in their mouth about this book.

Consciously I know that we all get to make up our minds about what we like and don't like, but is there a way that I could just MAKE them like it?!

Here's my question:

If you read this in school, did you like it? What experiences or thoughts do you have with this book? Do you remember any fun projects that teachers did with you in high school?

Word of the Year

I'm not much for resolutions so when I found this great post on Tip Junkie I thought that is was perfect for me. The idea is to pick just one word that sums up your goals or aspirations for 2009. I have a bit of a love for words, so it has been particularly difficult to pick just one, but I think that it's a good exercise. Some of the options that would be relevant but that I ultimately vetoed are: shop, eat, scheme, indulge, patience, debauch, euphoria, and many more. The word that finally chose was:

APPRECIATE
