This is right across the street from our little house. Emmy loves to say "sheep" and "bah" so when they got close Daddy took her over for a closer look. I love this guy! What a great daddy he is to our sweet Emerson.

Summer Fun

 

We have been having a great summer so far! We had a great weekend in St. George with our Cedar game night crew. It was a great time to eat lots of food, visit with friends and play at the pool. Emmy got to go to the zoo with her cousin Jaden and Grandma Cook. I'm not sure she had much fun, but she was a trooper. She kept her glasses on the whole time. It was so cute! We're keeping busy with school, work, and lots of play! I'll post more soon. I just realized that Greg is not in any of these pictures, but I promise, he's been here, too!

(We just got back from an amazing family reunion in Vernal for Greg's family. I don't have any of those pictures up yet, but that will be coming soon.)

The Originals

So last week, by some fluke, we got all of the original Cook kids, sans spouses, together for a yummy dinner.

Calvin had promised mom a 'mystery' dinner cooked by him whenever she wanted. So she cashed in on that on Sunday, but Calvin's lovely wife Chelsey got sick and couldn't help him. I stepped in and Calvie and I made meatball subs. (Don't think that the irony of the Subway family eating subs is lost on me!) It wasn't until we were all sitting down to eat that we realized we were pretty much in our 'normal spots' at the table and that it was the original cast. (Plus one extra high chair.) Naturally, Mom got a little teary and Dad got out the camera! Here are the results:

Glamour Shots

For Mother's Day my sister, Sarah, and I decided to arrange a fun girl's photo shoot with our mom. We thought that she needed to be pampered and 'glamorized' and we wouldn't mind it either!



Emily Clark of Wink Foto was GREAT! She does this celebration of moms every year that she calls her "Mommy Models" and she was our inspiration for this. We arranged to meet her in Lehi in the historic Main Street area and it was gorgeous! Such a unique place. We got all ready with pedicures and new shoes (since Emily requires heels for the Mommy Models. Fun.) and were all set to go...then in rained ALL day and we had to cancel. Luckily the weather and Emily worked things out for the next morning and it was perfect.

Another great thing is that Emily gets pictures of all the Mommy Model shoes and when she's finished with all of them, she does a contest. People can get on and vote for their favorite pair of shoes and the winner gets a FABULOUS gift package and family session. I'll make sure to let you know when I want you all to go vote!

Foley Time

All 6 Foley boys, parents, and families are going to be getting all together for the first time in quite a few years in a few weeks! As I've been thinking about this and getting excited to see everyone I realized something...

My wonderful in-laws, Gary and Vivian, came to visit us in April and I never posted the pictures! Where is my brain?!

We had a great time with them watching movies, hanging out, visiting, playing Scrabble, and eating. They took us to a great Japanese place in town and I got to try sushi for the first time. I LOVED it!

Emmy's Eating Friend

As most of you know, Jess and I are terrible parents for using a sitter so we can pursue financial riches as an accountant and teacher. I will say that our sitter is amazing. I was referred to her by an old co-worker from a previous job. The co-worker did not like from day one. I questioned her on an accounting principle and she felt that I was questioning her 30 years of experience. She thought she would teach me a lesson and ask the partner who was right. Well, I ended up being more right than her and I guess she felt embarrassed that some punk out of college with no experience actually knew something without her help. Anywho... I figured that when she referred the sitter, that it was some set-up. Jess and I went to interview the sitter and I swear it was a set-up. The excitement from the family to be able to sit for a newborn seemed over-the-top. I won't go into more details because it doesn't matter now but had we another choice at the time I might have made a huge mistake. Turns out that the family is awesome for Emmy. Other than Jess and I, the sitter knows Emmy better than anyone else. I don't think there is anything that the sitter won't do for Emmy. We even get free baby sitting the few times Jess and I can go out. I refer to her as "the sitter" because I don't want anyone in the Cedar area with kids to try and use her services. For everything that Jess and I have taught Emmy the sitter has reinforced and added nothing but good things. One thing that she has added that I didn't know about until this week is the "Eating Friend". This might explain why Emmy has bad eating days at our house. I guess whenever Emmy eats at the sitters, she has her friend either close by or actually in the food. I don't care where her friend is as long as she is eating. I don't know if there is a name for the friend but there needs to be one. So without further ado, here is the "Eating Friend".

Still Here

We were lucky enough to be able to spend all of last week at my family's AWESOME house in St. George. It was my one week off of school for the summer, (I teach year round), but Greg still had to work. So we had a good time hanging out with friends and family, eating, swimming, eating, laying out, watching movies, and cleaning up after a sick baby. Emmy got a nasty little bug for a few days, so I guess it was a good thing that we really didn't have any big plans. So that's what we've been up to. Kind of boring. Sorry.

*This is Emmy 'Helping' her daddy golf. I love how she winds up to throw the balls. (And no I don't usually let my kid run wild in just a diaper, but she had just gotten her pants wet in the swimming pool.)
