On My Mind...

There's been a lot of random thoughts running through my mostly empty mind lately, so I thought that if I wrote them down they might go away! We'll see.

Emerson has changed overnight it seems. She is seriously SO different. She is talking ALL the time, and is just a KID. There is no more baby left. Is this what happens when they turn 2? We had a rough few weeks with her and tantrums and such, but she has seemed to turn a corner. We have taken the binkie (plug as she calls it) away all except for bedtimes. It was bad the first few days, but now she willingly hands them over when she gets up. She's been GREAT lately! So funny; so smart; so much fun to be with.

My mom irons her sheets. Is this normal? I also used to think that it was normal for people to iron jeans, too. I honestly think it's crazy now, but I have moments when I'm making my bed and I can just hear my mom in my head saying that I should iron them. So not only am I slowly turning in to my mother, but I hear her voice in my head all the time!
Greg's had to go out of town quite a bit these last few months. I am SO grateful that he has a job and that we are able to support ourselves, but it sucks. Not so much that I can't handle the day to day stuff while he's gone, but I HATE that we've both gotten kind of used to it and it isn't as hard as it used to be. Does that make sense?

I'm sick of almost all of my Christmas decorations! Most of them are hand made (by me, so not great quality) or hand-me-downs. It's not just Christmas either. I've gotten to the point where I'd rather have completely blank walls than put stuff up that I don't think reflects my style. Am I being conceited or snobbish? I know what I like, but I'm not willing to fork out the cash to have it. Maybe someday.

Any one out there surprised that my daughter just measured in the 99th percentile for height? Yeah, me neither. She just turned 2 and she's a beanpole, but needs to wear a lot of 3T for length.

Our ward had a Christmas dinner and Santa came at the end. I thought Emmy might be a little nervous, but I wanted to try and get her first picture with Santa. She basically sprinted up so see him. Then after we got back to our table she found a guy in our ward and made him take her BACK up to Santa! She was standing by Santa and rubbing his knee and saying, "Soft Santa." So funny!
The pictures were just from my cell phone, so they aren't very good quality, but I'm glad I caught her silly moments with Santa. We put her to bed last night and could hear her over the monitor saying, "Santa, ho ho ho, Merry Kissmas." It's fun to have this holiday season where she is old enough to really participate and have fun. I can't wait to start some new traditions for our family.

I remember when Noah started talking like that, it really seemed to happen overnight and it was so weird.

My grandma ironed sheets as well, but there is no chance that is happening here. I don't even iron Dave's white shirts for church anymore.

One thing I'm really grateful for about Dave's job is limited travel. He drives quite a lot but comes home most nights (did you know he was in Cedar on Thursday?! There for less than an hour and then came home). Travel is so hard.

Oh my goodness...I almost peed my pants! I can just see adorable Aunt Geraldine ironing away! What can we say it is in our blood! OCD clean freaks everywhere we turn. As irrational as it sounds, every time I walk past something out of place that I should put away I still get that feeling like...I know Dad is going to take this away and then I'll have to "earn" it back! I am 30..almost 31! Will it ever end?!?!
Ha!
Emmy is cute as can be! Love you guys!

A. No it is not normal to iron your sheets! But, what do I know I don't even own an iron...haha
B. Emmy is the cutest, and I feel like you and Greg need to come down on a Wednesday and I can watch Emmy!
C. I don't really have anything else to write but I felt like there needed to be a C.

Super cute new blog. Very festive! Lucy ran screaming from Santa. They are NOT friends in Lucy's book.
And I can't even fold sheets so they stay flat, little own iron them. Hats off to your mom.

"soft Santa"- that is adorable! They do turn into real little people overnight I swear! Right now Patrick is freaking me out because he'll flash me this incredible smile with all his adult teeth and I just want to die. He was just my baby! I'm lucky to get sheets washed as much as I would like let alone ironed! :)

Em- That's crazy that Dave was is Cedar so quickly. The driving is a bummer, but at least he gets to be home at night. Greg's actually going to be gone on our anniversary next week. :(

Dev-
That's FUNNY! Can we ever get our parent's voices out of our heads?!

Cass-

I think we're starting Averie's terible two's. Only problem is that she's only 17 months. Thank for the reminder that there is a corner to turn and eventually she'll turn it too. Love the comment about the sheets. I think of my Grandpa every time I make my bed. He taught me the "right" way to put the top sheet on. I have to tell Landon the "story" every time.
